hiya,
i am just going to start, please bear with me...
7 or 8 yrs ago i noticed a lump in my neck.. was sent to a general surgon, he took one look and said yup its a lympnode, you need a biopsy..
poof
surgery was over..
at my follow up appt. he said everything went great, he actually found hair and bone in this now tumor, then he said, hey i could remove that mole off your forehead, i bet kids make fun of you. its true they have, but i love my Monroe, Crawford, Beautiful Mole!!

one day out of the blue i noticed it was back, same spot, much much bigger. it never bothered me but my OB at the time wanted me to get it checked out after birth. so she set me up with a new Doc who was wonderful. Telling her about the first surgeon, and that rude comment she laughed and told me she did a resedensy under him and all he cared about was the money.. makes sense the guy didnt even do an xray..

anywho, i went for there tests and saw her surgeon. when i called for the results he told me it was bone and refered me to orthopedic surgeon. the office said they dont do appts till a surgery is scheduled.. (Mind you, i just had gone through a horrbile gall bladder surgery, where they sent me home, in pain, only to readmit me 36 hrs later to do the damn thing again) well i wasnt and i am not just going to schedule a surgery without a doctor explaiining to me the situation. i argued and argued with them to no avail. so i said screw this and never looked back.. Still confused, emotional, very scared.
i moved to the otherside of town and began my new pcp hunt. i broke down going into the first office, trying to tell someone this through tears was not successful.. i couldent handle the stress, my anxiety was out of control. all i could do was cry uncontroalbly..
the doc did schedule me a mri and called a neurosurgeon on the spot. who asked me to get all the records and make an appt with him in 6 wks.. well that six weeks turned in to 6 months.
i started having pain 6 days ago.. at first i thought i pulled a mucsle, really didnt occur to me it was that tumor causing it till the day after it first started. I found a great article about neck shoulder and arm pain and what veterbraes cause pain where. so i am putting money on c5 or c6.. i must sound like a nut job..
i go for a mri tonight, but i will not go back to this doctor that ordered it. i have asked that the results be sent to him and another office i have yet to visit.. (another story altogehther) i figure i can at least call him an see what he has got to say..
thats it for now, its not much but a whole lot.
i just wish the pain would stop.
thanks for reading..

I hope your MRI shows the problem and hope you find the right doctor to get you feeling better and take care of what needs done.

Keep us posted.

thanks! i went for the mri last night.
what is the deal with contrast?
they did a pretty through med history. and the topic of with or with out contrast came up.. the nurse thought is was weird that the doc didnt order contrast with my history of previous surgery. So i imedialtly told them this WAS NOT my doctor and that i had no intention of returning to him.. so they did contrast anyway. yeah!!
it was a very positive experience and i am glad i have that to reflect on..

so i survied the mri, with the help of valium. the tech let me take a peek and it is a huge mass, butted right up on my spine. i am very curious to hear what a trained eye will have to say.

thanks for reading this. it is nice to have a place to vent.
i need to come up with a list of questions for the docs, any ideas?

hi all.
i have the mri results

impression: dics bulges at the levels of c4-5 and c5-6 with a small focal central and eccentric to the right of the midline disc protrusion at the level
c6-7.

now i had 2 general docs look at the report.. one only told me of the bulges, the other of the disc protrusion.
nowhere does it mention the tumor, so i am guessing it is not connected to my spine.. but my cscan states it is a degenerative bony hypertrophy at the level of c5-6. ???
anyone have anything similar? or nearly related?

Both docs have reffered me to a neurosurgeon. so i called and when the receptionist asked what the problem was all i coulld do was blubber about how confused i was and i really had no clue besides the pain. she was very reassuring and asked me to get the films to her asap and ahe will have the doc take a peek next week and ask if i need to be seen sooner than oct 13..

so i am confused.. but really that is nothing new...
