My neurosureon and epileptologist have been optimistic for a year about the results of my gamma knife surgery by the MRIs. All I could see was an increase in seizure activity. Actually I could see on the MRIs the changes in the hippocampus and part of the temporal lobe they targeted. I'm still having seizures but they are getting futher apart, like they are suppose to. As of this morning, I haven't had one in 40 DAYS! I haven't needed Diastat, I haven't gone into status for five months! I went status at least once a month for almost 20 years. This is very exciting for me. I count the days and then weeks. I keep track of my blood sugars, 4 or 5 times a day being diabetic. The NIH wants all this data for thier study. I knew going into this that it took a long time to show results but I didn't excpect two years. Now I don't care because think I'm getting something out of it! Not going status and having to get Diastat put in me is such an improvement, that stuff is embarrasing, even if you can't remember it.LOL I wish everyone a healthy day and a peaceful night. Bless all. Jeff

HI Jeff,
Sorry I haven't been on in awhile...alot of attorney stuff right now. Don't want to dwell on that. I do it enough.
HAPPY TO HEAR THE GREAT NEWS!!! Please remember, all is in HIS time...that is what I try to live by every day. You definately are taking a look at the positives which are NO Diastat (who needs another buttcheck :), NO Status (A BIG DEAL!) and the fact that you have been seizure free for 40 days!!!
That's alot of GREAT stuff!!! CELEBRATE!!! :bouncing: :bouncing: :bouncing:
You know I love Dr. M and what he has done for Katie. I guess he doesn't do hardly any ped's surgeries anymore. We were lucky to have him!
Katie just had a sleep deprived EEG on August 16th and the results were the same as last year (one year post op), NO EPILEPTOGENIC discharges!!! Just a little "wave slowing" around the surgery site, which is normal. HURRAY!
GOOD NEWS ALL AROUND!
Thanks for the prayers regarding the above...if you have some extra time on Monday the 28th at 3pm, I could use some prayer at that time. It's our first court appearance and it has to do with custody, placement and monetary support. I'm more worried about the kids, they don't want to go with dad at all right now. It's been rough.
Anyway...keep celebrating your accomplishments and just remember your patience came from somewhere too! ;) Slow and steady wins the race and EVERY day without a seizure is an AWESOME day!
God's blessings Jeff,
Vicki
