View Full Version : BC and Vitamins

I have kind of a stupid question to ask...
I started taking Ortho-lo about a month ago, and remember my doctor saying certain pills or medications can reduce the effectiveness of the BC pills. I want to start taking vitamins like Centrum, but want to make sure it wouldn't effect anything. I can't imagine why it would, but I'd rather be safe beforehand. So does anybody know if it's ok?

Thanks!

Vitamins are fine. It's only St. John's wort and antibiotics that can cause birth control pills to be less effective.

Katy5 -

I'd highly recommend taking a B-complex vitamin along with the Centrum. I say this because the pill depletes alot of the B vitamins which can lead to depression and mood problems. I was on Brevicon (a bcp) and became depressed from it. Then I started taking the B-complex and felt better immediately.
