Hi,

I was involved in a friendship with a schizophrenic and was with him everyday for about the last year. He pretty much depended on me for companionship and when he got into trouble (minor police problems etc.) He also got close with my family as he lived very close to us. The problem is that we moved away and now he has cut our relationship. Last time I talked to him he cried on the phone he missed me and wished I didn't leave. Now he will not answer my phone calls. Is this typical behavior of a schizophrenic not being able to handle me moving and just cutting me off from his world? He doesnt have any family - just a couple friends - but I was closest to him.

Please help. I am very worried and hurt. I heard he is doing fine from the neighbors but I just don't understand why he just cut me off.

I wouldn't worry about it. And that isn't just typical of schizo's, that needy attitude happens everywhere and in every culture. Just be careful who you develop relationships with in the future.:jester:
