Hi, I'm new here. I'm bipolar II taking desipramine (300mg), Remeron(45mg), Topamax(50mg), Trileptal(900mg) and Buspar(20mg). I'm 23/f and six months ago, exactlty when I started taking Topamax, Trileptal and Buspar I started having asthma when I exercised, and now it's getting worse. I have never had this before. Can any of this medication cause asthma??

Marina,
Welcome to the boards http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wave.gif
I suggest you go see your doctor as soon as possible. This may just be side effects but you're better off safe than sorry. Get it checked out. Take care.

Don't know if I should be posting here but definately need HELP. I've done it again. My husband is good but he's going to walk out on me one day soon. He's taken about all that he can. I go into rages, throw things, scream, yell, etc. No control. Can't stop. It's like something takes hold of me and my head and body will burst if I can't find a release. I was diagnosed many years ago but no one has taken the time to help me understand just what is happening to me. I'm fine and then, suddenly, I go into a rage and my insides hurt so bad and I feel as though I'm going to split open and I can't stop the screaming and slamming doors and throwing things and I just don't want to live, I hurt (mentally) so bad. And, I've been told to straighten up and act right. And, when it's all over I'm left with this emptiness and exhaustion and just want to sleep for days. Can bi-polar do this to me? Or is it another problem? I need to know if bi-polar is causing this. If so, maybe I need my medicine changed. It's gotten so bad recently that my children called my doctor and told him that the next time I come in, something has to be done about me. They told him that this just can't keep going on. HELP!!!!

Hi,
Another easy way of finding out side effects or interactions from meds is to call your Pharmasist. Tell him of your asthma, and ask him if any of your meds have listed asthma as a side effect. Then tell him the meds you are on. They have a computer listing of all meds, and can look them very quickly. This saves calling your Doctor as a first choice. Sometimes the Doc won't even know side effects when you ask them. I have found that my Pharmasist is the best source. Of course, if they cannot answer your question, they will tell you to call your Doctor.
