I have a scale again. It's my first digital, which is great. It's tracked the 25 pounds I've lost over the past 2 months, which is not great.
I can't decide if I need to put the scale away or not. By having it out, I could, theoretically, ensure that I don't lose more weight. If I put it away I fear that I might start assuming that I'm gaining weight (even if actually losing) and correct my diet and workout. On the other hand, having it out ruins some days when I have a daily fluctuation of +1 pound.
What is the opinion around here?, at least from the recovering (trying my hardest) anorexics?

Your scale is your friend.
Weight control without a scale is like driving a car without a speedometer.

Scales are important for weight managment. However, when the number you see on the scale rules your thinking...it's scary and can totally screw up your hard work and progress towards recovery. I have a problem with looking at my scale as well, so I've found a happy medium by only weighing myself 3-4 times a week instead of everyday...to keep my weight in check. But it is soley your call...just as long as you don't obsess over the number you see. After all, it is JUST a number. How you feel is way more important.

hey fellow posters, note that this is an anorexic who has lost 25 pounds in the past TWO MONTHS. this is not a healthy dieter embarking on a new, healthier lifestyle, okay? so this is not someone who needs a scale to track the progress of their eating disorder.
My opinion? (if it isn't obvious already) Take that thing out back and smash it to bits with a hammer. then, check yourself into some sort of treatment/therapy. seriously. you KNOW deep down that no way in he** will you use the scale to "make sure you dont' lose more weight." no way. anorexia does NOT work that way. please don't let that "ED voice" cloud your thinking.

I re-read my post and I realized that I'm starting to sound like a gym-trainer-know-it-all-diet-obsessed person (haha). I hate that cause I'm an anorexic trying to recover, too. JoniStyle kinda made me realize that I need to not weigh myself, and you should take the advice as well. I guess I think I'm getting the hang of things...but sometimes its good to get a reality check. :)

I wish I could get rid of the scales, but I have to check since I lose weight so easily. Do any of you continue to weigh in to make sure you're gaining/maintaining? I realize I don't need to do it 2x a day but at least I'm down from 10x...

Scales are bad for ED people in no way are they your friend! We can rationalize and justify why we need one but we really don't. I ditched mine and it has made my recovery a lot easier and more real.

i totally agree my partner actually smashed mine up because my doc kept telling me to get rid but i kept putting themaway and gradually the kept coming back out . it is so hard once they are gone and you do think you have gained but i assure you it is you mind playing games the scales are your own worst enemy if you have an eating disorder . Plus weight fluctuates that much with water and stuff they are inaccurate. Please get rid and get help that is a large amount of weight to loose in 2 months! take care .
