View Full Version : Effexor Withdrawals- Need HELP Now!!

My fiance was on Effexor, and he is currently on his way down off it. It's a long story, but he no longer wants to be on it and needs to go through the withdrawals. The doctor tapered his dose to this point, but that's no longer possible. He's on the lowest dose possible, so from that dose to zero is the smallest jump he can make.

I need to know if anyone has any tips to make the withdrawals easier. He's suffering from chills, nausea, abdominal pain, insecurity, dizziness, and an out-of-body feeling. Please HELP US, if you can!!!

I know a person who is going through the same thing. We have tried to find things to make this transition easier, but no success, just waiting. The person has had the same symptoms and has done very weird things, disoriented. Good luck and God bless, Badgirl

What about breaking the pills in half, or if it is a capsule, opening the capsule and taking half of the powder?

Regards and good luck,

I cannot say if Paxil will help or not, but, I can say, I have been on Paxil for three years and if I forget to take it, for as little as two days, I have those same horrible symptoms. Pain, sickness all over, you feel like you are floating... Really lightheaded... Hard to describe, feels more like you are on some major drug. Now, considering I have been on it so long, it is unbelievable that this can happen in ONLY two days, I mean I realize by the beginning of the second day.
What is with them saying, "It is not addictive!" "?"
Sure, I know you have to lower your dosage little by little if going off of it, but, as much as I must have in my system, it makes no sense.

Take Care~

I had the same effects that your boyfriend is having, when I went thru my withdrawl of effexor. It was horrible, not mention the acne, and suicide thoughts...and a buzz in my head...took me weeks to get thru it.
Just be there for him, and let him know he's not alone. that self worth thing can really kick ya in the behind.

If you can beliene it I have ran out of Effexor! Been out of it for a couple of weeks. The worse side effect I got was major headache. Perhaps your fiance has a problem that is going to require meds. I have had to come to terms with the fact that if I want any quality to life I will take meds. Good Luck
