For those of you with Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia, did anyone have a low grade fever when your AIHA was active?
Thanks,
Jill

Thanks, Jill Sponsor Merimac 08-21-2006, 02:18 PM Fever is the body regulating the temperature of the body and is influenced by the anemia. Some people have fever with anemia and some do not. I personally will run a low grade fever and then sometimes my body temperature will drop down below normal for a number of days only to shoot back up. When the anemia becomes stabilized body temperature levels to normal as well. japlopper 08-21-2006, 02:22 PM Merimac, Thank you so much for weighing in on this. I keep forgetting to ask my hema about it - and this fever thing has been complicated by the fact that I had a sinus infection, so I was on antibiotics. Now I know the infection is gone, but the fever is back. Nothing high, just around 99.5 or so. I've just tapered off Prednisone, so I think the AIHA is probably active again, judging by my energy level. They ruled out lymphoma for me, so that's why I thought it was related to the AIHA. Thanks again, Jill jbee6 08-22-2006, 05:43 AM No fevers for me throughout my experiences with this blood disorder. Definitely going to ask about procrit, wondering if it is anything like intragam which puts a coating on your red blood cells so its not as easy to destroy them. They have used this when my levels were extremely low. Any side effects, is it a simple shot or does it have to go in over time like rituxan etc. |
