View Full Version : Crazy pointless rant...

AARGHGH!!! I'm so mad! (Oops, sorry... but I am). My orthodontist treats me like I don't have a brain of my own. Every question is answered with arrogance. All of my questions and doubts about the darn orthognathic surgery seem to be stupid and I "just can't know".

That is why I read some medical publications (with research results they apparently do not agree with) and asked about those results. Not to question their professional skills, but to know. Yeah, I'm not a doctor, but I can still read. Why do they think I asked for their opinion? All I got was a shrug of shoulders: "It can't be true." Ahh, only published in an Oxford University publication - Oxford: known for lousy research? The least they should do is say "really, let me see"...

Do they only believe what they remember from med school? Keeping up with new research - nah. Some of the old ones probably don't even wash hands yet... Or were my questions too hard? Were they too afraid to admit they might not know as much as they would like me to think they do? God forbid, if anyone should think they are not gods after all.

Instead of statistics and all that "oh, he's a great doctor, trust him" (would they say any different if he were not? "oh, he's a really bad doctor, but let him try..."?) and arrogance, :nono: I would like some honest answer, and, yes, empathy, too. I am not a statistic and I do not want to be treated as such.

Sappy, eh? :)

That's funny stuff. You could do TMJ standup.

What did you research that "can't be true"?

Personally I *&#@$8%^&%&* hate those doctors and clash with them to the point of it being painful. I feel for you, and appreciate the humor within the rant.

I read a great article somewhere on the web once- dang where was that? It talked about the dissapperance of the research element within most doctors routines. He contended that doctors should have time to do research and or publishing, but that they have lost the time, ability, interest, what have you- and just focus on the application of what they learned in school.
