Hey Ladies-

It's been five months since I was told that I have HPV and I find your board very helpful and comforting. I go back at the end of October for my 6 month pap to see if anything has changed. I was told that I have mild dysplasia and should 'wait and see'. My doctor is confident that it will go away on it's own....so that's what we will do...'wait and see'. Ever since finding out that I have HPV, which came to a shock to me, I find myself worrying about possibly having other STD's that I do not know about. I don't know if this is just my anxiety due to the fact that the HPV was such a surprise it makes me feel that there is possiblity something else in my body I don't know about. I recently got married three weeks ago and have been with only my husband for three years. My question for any of you is....have any of you received additional std screening after finding out you had hpv?

Thank you for allowing me to vent and I appreciate you taking the time to respond!

In my experience, if you're worrying about this, the worry won't go away until you know for sure. I would get tested if I were you, just to put your mind at rest.

HPV is much more common than other STD's so you're probably fine but best to know for certain. Testing won't change anything that has already happened, it will just increase your knowledge.

Good Luck.

I agree with victoria. The more you know, the more you can do for yourself. There probably isn’t any need for worry, but to put your mind at ease I would get tested. I did.

But again HPV is very widespread compared to other STD's. its amazing that it is not talked about that much since about 80% of the population (in North America) have it, but most do not show any signs at all. I know I didn’t!

Keep an eye on the dysplasia and I hope it goes away on its own like a lot of cases do
