hi my name is greg. i am 21 and live in maine.I have mild cp and am nervous about getting out and meeting other people my own age. what makes me nervous about this is that when i get anxious some times it will show and it will affect my ability to talk to others. i also fear that when this happens i will get laughed at or will get made fun of. how do you deal with these feelings? thanks for any feedback

I always find it easier to meet people when I'm around friends, so there isnt so much pressure and the enviorment is more comfortable. The one thing I hate the most is going to a party with only one person I know. Once we were the only people we knew and everyone already had their little social networks.

I'm sure I will get yelled at for this and this should also be used with caution, but you are 21 and you should take advantage of that. I know one small drink will always help me, just dont go overboard with it.

Oh, yes! I can relate to that. I can't lie for the same reason, lol. I'm very comfortable meeting new people when I'm with friends.

That's not always an option though, and when it's not I force myself to relax and be calm with some deep breathing, and throw every care I have out the window and just go for it; because a person is going to like me for me.

CP or no CP and every little quirk it gives me. If the person doesn't take the time to get to know me because I have CP it's their loss, and no skin off my back because they must not be that great of a person or they would be able to see past the outer me on to the inside.
