my doctor says that anything above 250mg lamictal is not helpful; that therapeutic range is at its max at 250. Is anyone taking more and do you really see a marked difference in the increase, or just minor? thx. k

I was taking 300mg for a little over a year with great results. This was before one of my many "I'm fine, I don't need medication" episodes. When I went back on Lamictal I made it back up to 200mg which totally flattened me out and backed down to 100mg which is working fine for me now. I think it really depends on the person and how things are going at the time. 300mg used to be great, then 200mg was too much, now 100mg is good. Go figure.

Hey Jen,
I'm on Lamictal too! Right now I take 250mg it seems to be working fine, but yesterday I had a set back. I think I know what triggered it and I'm hoping to feel better today. If not I might ask for an appointment with my doc. Just a question how high can you go on Lamital before they add another new med? Just wonderingd?
Klaw have you been on anyother medicine before going on Lamital? This is the only med I have been on so far. I hope this is the only one I ever have to take. I feel like I'm gaining weight and I exercise everyday. Now I know why the doc keeps asking me if I'm still exercising. I'm maintaing but not losing and this is discouraging me.

Hey, Just my two cents:cool:

I take 300 milligrams. But I do not feel any different before I started it. However, my doc says it has done wonders. I do not know.

My doctors have tried adding in other meds along with the Lamictal...risperdal, buspar, trazodone-I wasn't on any of those for more than a month because of side effects. I have been on adderall the entire time I have been on Lamictal and it has been fine. I don't think it matters when the introduce a new med.

thank you all for responding.

TWEETYONE, in answer to your question; yes, I have tried lithium for eight years before the lamictal (another good drug). Neither have caused weight gain but I too am unable to lose weight.
