A low sperm count does not mean that you cannot get PG, it only means it may take you longer to get PG or that you may need some assistance such as IUI or IVF. Just curious, how long before the SA did your DH ejaculate?? It may be a situation where he did not have enough time to build up before he was tested.....just a thought. Good luck!

Well they told us it had to be brought in within 45 mins, of him ejaculating..so it was about 20-30 mins or so..

Also another quick question. When we go see the RE, if they reccomend IVF, how costly is it, and does insurance pay anything on it??

wanting bay#2, i think it really depends on how low of a count dh has.. my dh has such a low count right away we were transferred from ob to re and told we needed ivf/icsi, they still did tests on me tho... to make sure that was the only "promblem... also we were told it is not "impossible" to get pg but it was a less than 5% chance and who knows if or when that would happen its already been 4 yrs ttc... so we went with the ivf! about insurance it reaqlly depends on the state u live in and the insurance company, ive heard of ivf costing up to 12-15ooo and there are payment plans some clinics offer, or some insurance companies will pay for the all the diagntostic tests (u/s etc) best thing to do call ur insurance company and find out.. and im not sure the price of iui, i just know it is less than ivf.. i woudl first see how low of a count dh has and ur re may send him to a uroligist and then see where to go from ther :) GOOD LUCK!!!

hi, i am new to this, i have a 3 year old daughter from a previous relationship and before i fell pregnant the doctors told me that there was no way i would conceive naturally, well i proved them wrong! I am with my current partner and have been trying for another baby for 2 years and we have been told that i have severe PCOS (which i already knew) and my partner has a very low sperm count. They said that it is not impossible for us to do it naturally but very slim so we are going private and having ICSI treatment in October as we tried fertility drugs and they didn't work so we opted to go straight in for the ICSI

My dh has a low sperm count. It is not even 1million. It is only 200,000. Dh and I decided not to do IUI because we were told that we need at least 3-5 million. We did not want to waste time or money. We have decided to take a more aggressive approach and go straight to IVF with ICSI. As you may know, this is where dh gives a sperm sample, and they retrieve one sperm at a time and fertilize a number of Eggs with individual spermies. My RE gave us an excellent prognosis. Definitely look into IVF w/ICSI.
We are going to do IVFw/ICSI in December. With all of these BFPs lately, I am totally optimistic!!!
