4.5 years ago I was diagnosed with hydronephrosis while pregnant with my 3rd child. It kept getting more and more severe - ended up having a stent placed. About a month later - hydronephrosis came back and ended up coming back in both kidneys. They delivered my baby a month early because of the strain it was putting on my kidneys. Since then, every test I have says hydronephrosis of the right kidney. Doc said that he thinks I have a UPJ (kinked ureter) but let's just wait and see because it is only a partial obstruction. I continue to have intermittent right flank pain. For the past 2 weeks it has become continuous and having sharp pains in the kidney area and the past few days the pain is now shooting all the way down. I am having no problems going to the bathroom - in fact I am going more frequently I think. My GP did a CT on Monday because he could actually feel my kidney swollen. CT scan showed bilateral dilated extrarenal pelves and that I was referred to a urologist. I went yesterday to a new urologist who says I don't have typical hydronephrosis cause the calyces are not blown out (they used to be) - but that my extrarenal pelves are swollen but there are no stones and by the CT there doesn't appear to be obstruction. I am having a Mag 3 Renal scan with and w/out lasix tomorrow. Yesterday - I noticed that my right side has become so swollen that where my indention is on my left side for the waist in not there on my right side. My urine shows no infection, no blood (although home tests will occasionally show protein). My blood work is normal. But I am in constant pain. The doc gave me Tylenol 3 to help with the pain. But I have kids - I can only take it at bedtime. Does anyone have these symptoms or any ideas on what is going on? I want this solved now!
