hi,
it's been a while since I've posted but thought i'd mention something that might help someone with a pinched nerve or leg pain or sciatica.

I know most on this board have major problems and are recovering from fusions, etc, but this might help someone anyway, and I found it helped me when no other exercises would relieve my back pain or leg pain from pinched nerve.

You lie on your back and turn your legs towards each other so that your knees are almost facing each other (as far as you can stretch comfortably), and you are pidgeon toed. Hold and release and do as many as you can.

I have spondlylolithesis and arthritis in L4-5 and also bulging disk in L4 or L5 and some days I can hardly stand it my whole left leg will hurt.
But just doing these every morning and every night has given me more relief than all the PT I ever went to and all the other exercises combined.

Maybe it will help someone and I just wanted to share.

Thanks for the input. I will have to try that. Do you have back and leg pain at night as well as during the day?

Thanks,
schao

yes, when I have it it's night and day. and it's usually after I've worked my weekend job which involves standing for 6 hours:eek:

Let me know if it helps you. do you have leg pain/and back pain also?

I have severe leg/hip/butt/low back pain. I've had an MRI of my lumbar spine with and w/o contrast, a pelvic ct scan, EMG, and a PET/CT scan of my whole back down to my mid thigh. I also had xrays of my hips and it showed DDD in my hips and around my SI joint area. But, my doctor said that wouldnt be causing me pain.
Any other suggestions for me? I'm 27 years old.
On a scale of 1-10, my pain is about a 5 or 6 during the day, and a definite 10 at night. I wake up so stiff and in pain its ridiculous, and no cause found as of yet.

Thanks,
schao

some things to try if you haven't already:
Ice on your lower back in the evening.
glucosamine chondroiten, and aloe vera tablets or liquid.

magnesium is a good muscle relaxer, that might help you at night.
is it nerve pain or muscle spasms do you know?

I'm really not sure b/c I've never had back pain like this before. The pain in my low back/hips/butt/and legs feels like just a deep ache. I do get muscle spasms in my legs and butt. I can bend over forward perfectly fine, but I can't bend back at all--it hurts way too much. I do a lot of reading on the internet (probably too much) and I've read a lot about night time back pain and all I ever see is cancer :(
I would think with all of the tests I've had done if it was cancer it would have been found by now. I just don't know. My mind is consumed with it all day :(
Thanks for any help.
