anyone out there have PMDD or major PMS? and if so, what do u take for it and DOES IT HELP?

I take Prozac (fluoxetine), 10mg throughout the month and 15-20mg the week before my period. It took about 2 months to work, but it has made a huge difference! I also take a bit of Wellbutrin to counteract some side effects of the Prozac. The combo is working for me! Good Luck. PMS is a horrible thing. It completely distorts your view of EVerything!

I take effexor, 150 mgs. It works great part of the month, but once the hormones kick in, I feel like a complete nutcase. chrismom, you are lucky to have found something that helps! I too am open to suggestions - please!

Hormones hostage here too. :P But Zoloft, either that week if I'm not on it for the whole month, or maybe a 25 mg. increase works for me. The 25 mg. isn't applicable to other meds tho, so check with your doctor. Good luck. I used to send myself an automatic email every month, warning myself that the witch was on her way. Zoloft is much more effective.

I find that taking Omega 3 fish oils regularly (ie all month long) helps alot with the PMDD.
