I guess it depends on how low in iron you are, I was 19 and the range started from 20, so I was just under. It took 2 months for the hair to stop falling out. I was losing around 60-80 each morning and in 2 months it halved. Now its around 20-40. I havent seen much regrowth in the very thin areas. Ive read a hair cycles 3-7 months. Its been just over 3 months so I guess it will be around 7 months to really see something. What supplement are you taking. I took 1 Ferrogradumet daily which has 105mg of iron. Have you had everything else checked, thyroid, hormones etc. I too was stressing which is bad as I have an anxiety disorder. I decided to stop worrying as the worse thing that could happen would be to lose my hair and that it will regrow, so stop stressing about it. Just tell yourself it will stop. I know just how you feel. I guess I am lucky that my hair was very thick so no one has really noticed. Its very thin to me. I read it takes losing up to 50% of your hair before it becomes obvious. Hope this helps you.

The hair is mostly made of protein. To encourage hair growth, stick to a diet rich in protein, along with the iron. A recommended diet for this purpose includes red meat, eggs, brewer's yeast, wheat germ, and two tablespoons of granulated lecithin. Along with protein, these foods are also high in B vitamins, an important nutrient for hair.
