Okay, so the thread title is vauge, but I'm rather proud of myself, for today was the first day I ever plucked my eye brows and I actually did it without taking my eye out.
I wanted to share, because I know a few girls with CP who don't do such things because they can't or think they can't. If you can't, you should definitely have someone do it for you. And let me tell you, I'm sure you have a willing girl friend, sister or cousin who would gladly jump on it. (At least I know my cousin was almost out of her skin wanting to do it, lol)
So, I dunno what possessed me but this afternoon I looked in the mirror and said, I think I should get a mirror and tweezers and just do it.
This evening when I went upstairs to my cousin's, she was laying down her son and I was watching some show about crop circles and I just went over to the cabinet grabbed her tweezers and a hand held magnification mirror thought out my plan for two seconds sat on the edge of the couch and nearly took out my eye.
So I decided sitting in the corner of the couch (one elbow braced up on the arm and the other elbow braced on the back of the couch) would be best so I'd have somewhere for my shakes to be absorbed and plucked my right eye with my right hand in about 10 minutes.
Then my cousin came in and freaked... lol (I guess I scare them with sharp objects!) And insisted she get 4 I "missed" I let her and went at my left. Which is were it got complicated.
I could not pluck the underside with my right hand, absoultely could not. And took 30 minutes just to figure out how to hold the tweezers in my left. THEN I figured out that if I bent my arm over my head and plucked from above... it worked. And after an hour I have BEAUTIFULLY tame eyebrows and they make me feel very very very girlie. I highly recommend doing so if I'm not the last person on Earth to have done this :D

My right hand/arm is my most spastic and I think that's why I couldn't get it over to the left eye, the way I was sitting.
It is also the one I write with (Go figure! I think it was forced on me though at a very young age... probably why I didn't write until second grade!) I get tired of writing very quickly and my hand will hurt.
Luckily I'm pretty good with my left, it's just very akward at first.

Wax scares me!! My mom helped me wax my legs once and they bruised like nothing else I'd ever seen. They were just black, blue and purple for days.

I too have recently learned the fine art of tweezing! I no longer have a unibrow! My mom and sister used to tame my eyebrows before. I have to brace my right arm on the bathroom counter to prevent it from shaking to pluck chin hairs and hold my right arm steady with my left hand when plucking my eyebrows. It takes a long time to do, but at least I can do it by myself.
I am right handed too although my right hand is affected more than my left. My right hand gets very tired if I write for long periods of time.

Maybe you are allergic to the wax? At a salon they are very fast and that helps the bruising. My hubby had an allergic reaction when I waxed his chest. Bruises also and itchy patches. If you dont press down on the area after ripping the sheet it will allow the blood up thru the hair follicles.
Note- Veet wax strips are terrible!! I would like to try Nads one time, its cool wax-- no heat.
Eyebrow waxing is a great way to get warmed up to waxing anything else. small area but big impact!! I cant afford a leg wax yet but when i do, i'm gonna do the whole leg, not just below the knee.
Also, to brace myself when I pluck I stand against the full length mirror on my closet door of all things --and I rest my arm on the mirror and my body as well. Frustrating because everytime I breathe it fogs up.... but it gets the job done. And I have an extreme close up!

Nads, that's the infomercial stuff, isn't it? That's what made me bruise!

I have mild CP and I have so many motor skill difficulties that I'm sure I would probably take my eye out if I tried to pluck my own eyebrows as you thought you would. But I guess, if you did it, I could too!
