Hi, i thought i would try and get some advice, here it goes!
for over 3 months i have had balance probs and thought it must be my ears! within that time i have had achey muscles in my legs on and off and sometimes my arms, i also had a few days of horrible fatigue where i mostly had to sit down but that passed!
but over the past week i have become more and more tired! my legs are the worst they ache and feel weak like i cant walk sometimes! my arms and hands ache too and i feel drugged up! last night i couldnt sleep although i was knackered!! i get pins and needles sometimes but lately thats not really a problem, i feel my so called problem is finally hitting me now after months of coming and going.
I have no vitamin deficiences, kidney probs or pain anywhere in my body (like the region where the organs are all located)
I just feel WEAK like i have the flu (not quite as bad as full blown flu...yet anyway)
My doc is sending me to a neuro soon to rule out MS and nerve probs.
Any advice on what i can ask the doc or what it could be would be great!
Have to stop typing now and my hands are starting to ache and go stiff!! LOL!!

I would try to find a doctor savvy about CFS to start, maybe an infectious disease doc. You would have to query them to be sure; otherwise, you may have a long journey with many misdiagnoses's, not to mention frustration. There are specific tests that will help determine this but many docs do not know what they are so you end up being sent to a psychiatrist or to one specialist after another, usually with "normal" results. Another thing to look into is Lyme disease because it is now considered to be the underlying cause for many illnesses. I would visit the Lyme board here (and elsewhere) to find out how to get properly tested for this, not just any old lab will do.
All the best
btw: the symptoms you describe are classic for CFS/Lyme

hi i no sooo how u feel.. i ve had chronic fatigue along with aches, pains and spasms in my legs with aches in my arms to. i also feel very hazey all the time with forgetfulness.. i ve have been like this since having a bout of flu in march. i was refered to a neurologist for an mri to rule out ms.. well ive just had the results and at present i have no signs that i have it so the doctor has put it down to post viral fatige in other words ME.. which is all good an well but theres nothin u can take for it... oh only antidpressants if things get really bad.. great!!
im only 23 and have a hyper 3yr old son and at the moment find it diffucult to get through the day without a little nap!!
i think its good ur having tests done to rule out any other possibilities for ur symptoms

Have you had your thyroid tested!!
I was like you for a long time and each month that went bye I was told it is Cfs.
9 Months down the line I got told I have a underactive thyroid ,hashi's it Autoiummne. If you have had it tested post your TSH and your Free T4 with lab ranges, The doctors can say that your in the normal range , but your levels could be not right, I.e your free T4 needs to be at the top end of the range, and your TSH need to be a the bottom of the range!!
hope this helps ...Mandy

I totally agree with mad maz, get your thyroid checked out plus you could always go to the thyroid board and read the stickys at the top of the forum, there's tons of info that you may find very useful xx

Hi, I hope this helps. My Mom had symptoms very similar to yours for almost 10 years. They would come and go.....from mild to where she couldn't get out of bed. She went from doctor to doctor and they kept telling her it was just stress or "all in her head."
She finally found a doctor that felt she had Fibromyalgia. She was sent to a specialist and sure enough that was her daignosis. She still has bad days (or sometimes weeks), but the doctor's finally know how to help. She was put on a couple daily meds and has pain med. for the really bad days. She rests and does GENTLE exercise.
It may help you........so many things have similar symptoms. So I just thought I would mention it. Best of luck to you.

Oh....sorry I forgot to add that I have low thyroid. I did not experience what you are though. I am now on Levothroid. I was cold all the time, fuzzy thoughts and memory, my long hair started coming out, tired all the time and couldn't lose any weight no matter how hard I tried...... It was diagnosed when my 2nd child was 1 yr old and was caused by my second pregnancy they said. I guess it's common in women who have given birth.

HI Tall girl! I am tall too. 5'10
Anyway I was just dx today with cfs. I finally found a new dr. My last doc thought it was fibro. But today I actually had one of my usual low grade fevers and my lymph nodes were all swollen so I think this helped.
Your list of symptoms very closely matches mine. I have the muscle twitches everywhere, tingling hands and feet, pain everywhere, legs too heavy to pick up. I actually have a cane. I am 40 yrs old with a 4 and 6 yr old. The mri qwas negative for ms and nerve problems. Surprising to me. I do have Hashi's thyroiditis. But my tsh isn't too out of range and the synthroid and levoxythrine just makes me worse. I am very tired and can't sleep.
I didn't mean to turn this into my post. Just wanted you to know you are not alone. And it doesn't mean it's ms!!!!
I hope you get help.
I am just walking this path. Dx today. But atill have tests left to rule out other things.
Good luck,
Deena
