Has anyone applied for FMLA while undergoing IVF?

I recently went through an IVF cycle and a FET cycle. Unfortunately almost all of my time was sucked up. I only have 5 vacation days to take before Jan. 1st. So you figure at least 1 for ER and about 2 for the ET. So that leaves me with 2 days for all those dang visits/ultrasounds/blood tests. That's impossible!!! The thing is I really cannot wait until after January cause we did the "cost sharing" program and have 18months to "use up" our cycles.

So I requested FMLA papers because I don't know what else to do. Has anyone else had a similar situation with work and time off? I'm just so afraid that the FMLA won't be approved and then I'll be screwed!!!

I think that is an excellent idea...because you are right what else are you to do. I mean this is a pretty time intense process and if you are on that program I mean you have a dead line. I think you will actually get approved it seems logical to me. I mean think about it people get off work if their foot hurts with FMLA. Your condition is a little more serious. Good luck with it please update us I am sure there are women out there in your same situation. I used to work at a place that had a plan like that. But now My sister and I own a Preschool so I have to get substitutes different can of worms I guess.

Use FMLA. That's what it's there for. I don't work but my husband does and he used it quite often. We went to a RE that was two and a half hours away, underwent 4 IUI's and 1 IVF, and I had two surgeries, so anytime my hubby was late or had to miss work he used FMLA time. It's WELL worth the time and effort to get it approved, and don't worry... they'll approve it.
