I went to my first RE appointment today and found out that I have PCOS. It was written all over my old test results and confirmed with an ultrasound. I'm so mad that my OBGYN didn't recognize it before. I'm relieved to know it's not something horrible and it can be treated. She put me on glucophage to regulate my insulin (she said that usually PCOS patients have high levels of insulin). She said that usually when PCOS patients take glucophage they will respone to clomid. (which has failed 4 times for me) The next step is to have a dye test to make sure my tubes are open. Which will happen around the 2nd week of Sept (depending on my cycle). I'm just glad I finally know what's wrong and will be able to get the ball rolling on having some babies!!! :p

I'm glad for you!! It's just good to know what you're dealing with so you can make a plan and get going. Sounds like your plan for moving forward is in place! Good luck and let us know how things progress! Baby dust!

Doodlebug,
No I did not get my periods regularly. I remember in high school that they were more regular but just long cycles. Then I went on BC for 4 or so years. After going off of them Jan 05 my periods became very irregular. I went from June -Nov without a period and again in Nov-Jan. That's when I went to my OB which did not catch that it was PCOS at the time.
I hope all is well with the HSG. My doctor told me that there might be cramping so she gave me a prescription of valium and a pain pill to take before the procedure.

That's great your doctor gave you pain pills. I could've used those for my HSG!! Seems like the amount of pain for the HSG test is different for everyone...some women barely feel it. That was not the case for me. I think I now know what childbirth feels like, lol...even though I took advil ahead of time...but at least it only lasted for a couple minutes. Then it was just some cramping through the day. With the pain pills, you should be feeling almost nothing (and should be pretty happy as well)!! Good luck, wishing you clear tubes and uterus!!:)

I'm so happy you have some answers!! I had the HSG test....I felt a "pinch" and some mild cramps during the procedure....tolerable, but I wish I took off work the next day b/c of the cramps (like a bad case of AF). Good luck!!!!
