Hi Sue, Did your dr go over all the possible s/e's of the topamax? I've been taking it since May for nerve pain related migraines. It worked great for that. You have to be sure to drink plenty of water and drinks with electrolytes in them like gatorade or smart water. Topa does not allow you to sweat normally in the heat so be careful in the sun. You may also get a pins and needles type feeling in your hands and feet. It is common to also feel this in your head or even your nose. I also had the "achy" feeling for a while and I tend to feel pretty tired. The more tingly I feel, the more water I drink. Topa will give you kidney stones if you don't keep up the water intake also, so keep up the water for all of these reasons. I can't stress enough-water, water, water...

I've heard that for everyone there is a proper dose for topa, when you hit it you will know. Mine was 100mg's. When we tried to hit 150mg's I had anxiety and anger issues and had to back down. At this point I have to go off of the med for other s/e's, which is too bad because it really was controlling my migraines. Is your dr tritrating slowly for you? What dose are you starting at and how quickly are you going up? Mixing the topa with the xanax is propably going to make you pretty sleepy. I wouldn't suggest doing any driving AT ALL while starting on the topa. I couldn't do any driving. I was so confused at first. Especially if you are going to be mixing both of the meds.:dizzy: Yikes. Let us know how you are doing and if you need anything!
