Well, here i am again .My daughter is back at home from her trip to the hospital. Her outside theraphy is with our citys mental health clinic. The doctors there have done more tests on her and have decided she has BPD with anti-social disorder. She acts before she thinks of the result or consequences of her actions. They still have her on Adderal ,Zyprexz,Celexa, and Depakote. She can be so wonderful and fun to be with ,then a curtain comes down and life to her is not worth living .She begins to get angry ,demanding and so loud ,I think during these episodes she thinks ,I'm hard of hearing .I love her so much but am getting to wonder how to help her .Each place she goes or each Doctor that treats and tests her gives me a different answer ,I am beginning to wonder if she has it all. This one BPD .He says has no meds to help with .She will spend her life in theraphy if she lives long enough .2 suicide attempts have my nerves tore up .I don't want to lose her ,especially like that .She is also a SM,she has cut her stomach until it looks as if shes been in a knife fight .Now she has horrible cigerette burns on her upper arms .She says it doesn't hurt when she does it .How can that be? She is only 13.She has been given a beautiful singing voice ,but even her songs are sad and bizarre .I guess to her it's her way of release .I'm sorry for jumping from thing to thing but my mind is moving fast less I forget something ,maybe someone may know what to do to help her.So far to write all her diagnoes are :ADHD,ODD,Bi-polar 2 with psychotic features,Mood swings,Borderline Personality Disorder ,Anti-Social Disorders,Self-mutilater.How can 1 teen-age girl have so much pain inside?
Thanks for letting me put this in writing .No one here really understands,so I don't talk about it to others in the family or out .Family want me to put her in a group home.I think that would finish her off.
Thanks again
Keri

My 8 yr. old nephew, whom I am raising, has had many of the same diagnosis you listed. He does not yet self mutilate and does not have ODD symptoms to any great degree. Anyway, my heart goes out to you and I understand clearly your frustration, anger and helplessness. It hurts so to watch a child you love so unable to handle life in any "normal" way!
My nephew did horribly on Adderal...he was a crying mess! My nephew is currently on concerta, clonodine, zyprexia (a very low dose because he got mean with higher doses) and a new med I feel lucky to have found....ABILIFY. He was having so many side effects on the depacote and was cycling quickly. I requested from the Psy. and got him to put him on abilify and it has been a WONDER drug! We still need to tweek the concerta some as he is still doing everything in rapid motion; however, NO anger fits, crying fits, rages or sleepless nights! He now smiles when he wakes up, wants me to hug him, and is so much happier. In addition, he has quit gaining weight and is having less of the facial grimaces.
Anyway, each kid is different and who knows what combination will work for a specific child? If her current meds do not work, switch Drs., make them switch meds, study her diagnosis and listen to anyone with experience. It is a long road....may there be few potholes and hills!

Thanyou for responding .I did what you suggested .The Doctor is trying zoloft and adderal now .The other 4 meds she was on ,were making her worse.
Her mood swings are driving me crazy .She has been screaming at everyone for the past few days. She has been totally out of control. When she finally calms down ,she tells me she is sorry but she can't help herself for doing it.Hopefully this will help ,if not I will ask for another med. Thanks again for responding .I hope your nephew is doing well .Hope to hear from you again .
thanks
Keri

Seroquel, maybe in a lower dose so she doesnt sleep her life away,LOL may help. It had totally taken away my rage.hatrid and hopelesness. No child should have to suffer like that , being a teen is bad enough. Maybe even putting her on the pill will mellow out hormal mood swings??? Just wwishing I could help, Rhonda

I hope you are hanging in there with your daughter! I am still feeling good about my kid on abilify> he is doing much better then on any other drug in terms of the rages< crying and yelling! now< he is not speaking well>>>>>>nobody understands him! not sure why?what that is about but will need to deal with it. IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING !!!! Hang in there.
