Ok here is the deal. When I had my first son, I experienced extreme mood swings, depression and anger fits. I thought it was PPD, but my doctor diagnosed me with bi-polar (on the very low end?). I suppose it does run in the family a bit, so I kinda went with it. Anyways, he put me on depakote and lexapro. However, the side effects of lexapro (such as the lack of sex drive, weight gain, etc etc) are starting to get to me and is effecting my life. I would love to stop taking it, but the side effects of quitting is almost worse!!! I feel like I am stuck. I don't have any adverse effects with depakote...just lexapro. And they say that it is the mildest of the anti depression meds? Also I am taking about half a pill a day. 5mg? Does that sound right? So taking half of the pill is not an option...I'm already doing that.

Please help with any advice!!

I'd speak to my dr about the side effects. There are other med out there with less side effects. However, they almost all have some of them to a dregree.
