Hi there,

I am new at this....I am actually posting for my sister. She is 31 and husband is 32 and have been ttc for 2 years with no luck. They have no detectable problems. She is regular, ovulates, and he is also fine. So it has been a long road of not knowing.

She had her first IUI last Sunday (8/20) after clomid and a HCG trigger shot. She had the second IUI on Monday. Today she had her progestorone levels checked and it was 14? What does that mean? She has had a few headaches, some white CM and cramps?

Can anyone help my little sis?

i never had an iui, (went straight to ivf) but what do u mean she had an iui 8/20 and then another one.. why would she have 2 iuis in one month?? she should have one right before she ovulates, then wait 2 weeks to see if she is pregnant, right?? am i getting this wrong?? i think ur post confused me, and even tho there is not much i can say to help, i will keep my fingers crossed for her and her dh!!!

I'm going through a very similiar situation myself. A level over 5 for progesterone usually indicates that ovulation took place. After my recent IUI, I had cramps as well (no headache, but I hear some people do). My progesterone was 11.3 last month, then I started taking progesterone supplelements & now it's 43.7. My DH has always said our issue was with progesterone...it was low in the normal range when I was pregnant with my DS, then I started taking supplements.
Good luck!

With IUI you go 2 days in a row for them to inject. So her first was on Sunday, then again the next day. Then they test her hormone levels 7 days later which was today, and then test for pregnancy 7 days later - so yes she is in the middle of the 2ww. Which is killing us! I say us, because I am hoping, hoping that she gets a BFP!

Anyone out there with a BFP after the first IUI try?

Wow, I've never heard of 2 IUI's in one cycle, but the more the merrier I guess. I had my first IUI this cycle and I just had one 36 hours after my trigger shot (so my IUI was right around when I ovulated). Then we had to have intercourse that night after the IUI (phew, that was a little tricky)!

For progesterone, my RE likes to see it over 15 at 7 days post ovulation, because that indicates a good environment for the embryo if it implants. And I guess her level is pretty close, so that's probably ok. And also, it's over 5, so we know she ovulated. Yahoo!!

Good luck to your sister and her DH! You're a good sister for asking questions for her. :)

When do you think she should take a HPT? She is now 11 dpo. She says she does not feel like AF is coming, but you never know.

well i guess thats a good thing if she doesnt feel "it" but even if she did that is still ok, most women ive talked to dealign with infertility and getting pregnant the "old fashion way" still feel signs of af when they are pregnant. maybe her gut is telling her she is pregnant take a test :) i think the store bought ones say 4 days before a missed period... so i would think there may be enough today or tomorrow :) gooood luck to her!!

She took a HPT test this, did not use her first pee, and it was BFN. I am praying that is was just too early. Now we will wait until Monday, 9/4 for her test with her Doctor. She said she checked her cervix and it was not easliy reached? She is going to the bathroom 2 times in the middle of the night too which is not normal. If our calculations are correct she should see AF today or tomorrow if she is not PG.

I just pray everyday for her that she is.

Your sister's situation is very similar to mine, as my dh and I have no problems, but have been trying for over 2 years. We have gone through IUI's twice (and we do two days of IUI each time) but had no luck yet. But, everyone is different, and she may very well get a BFP on the first try. It all depends on the person. One thing to keep in mind, at least with me, is that my AF was late each time I did this due to all the fertility drugs. Good luck :)
