Any one know if Lamictal can cause extreem aggravation?
is it part of the ajustment period?
if so How long does it usually take to get through the adjustment period.
I'm taking a real beating from the wife here. Last time she was on it the Dr. took her off because it was causing her to be angry. The Dr. wants to give it a nother shot. The dr. thinks they didn't give it enough time.
Any one experience anger with Lamictal? will it pass?

I have heard about Lamictal causing temper from friends but I can not find any literature on it.

My daughter is on Lamictal and I was told that each time it is increased that some anxiety and agitation comes out for the first few days and usually levels off later in the week. I find this especially true with my daughter who was doing well and this week really noticed herself being more angry and mad than usual following an increase in titration. I think that this happens until you get to the therapeutic level. Is your wife already at the dosage they want her on???
Also with women....they will hormonally be worse during certain times during their cycle. Some doctors even work with them and have them increase the Lamictal during that time to help them through. It may be something your wife should bring up with her pdoc the next time she sees him.

thank you
Goody, she has just started. less than 1 week.she started with 1/2 pill and is supposed to increase to a full pill after 2 weeks, but took it upon herself to take a full one after 3 days. she has been a bear. I asked her to go back to 1/2 pills like she was told by the dr. unfortunately when she is irate it is directed at me, so she doesn't really like it when I talk meds with her right now.

Distroyed ~ As you well know.....Lamictal is one of those meds that needs to be slowly titrated.....if one doesn't follow the precise directions they will have an increased chance of developing a rash which is bad enough to require hospitalization OR the missing the level at which it will most help out. Of course too fast a titration will affect the mood bringing on what you are now seeing. But as you know you can only voice your concerns and it is up to your wife to comply. Try bringing this up when she is less agitated....there is always a window of opportunity.;)

Goody, you are right, but the window of oppertunity with her is so small I always seem to miss it. I am doing the best I can. I think that right now My wife is doing the best she can also. Her motivation for upping her dose was to speed things up. She just doesn't know. I do love her but It is getting a little to hard. I believe you have read most of my posts and know what's happened. It is getting a little overwhelming.
Thank you Goody. I value your input.
