I am new here but getting desperate for answers. I am 28 with 3 children,13,10 and 5, and I have gone to the E.R. 3 times in the last 2 months because of severe pain in my left lower abdominal region. I was told I have 2 hernias, I unblilical and one inguinal which would account for the sharp pain in my left lower area. I had a CT though and it said I had a 2cm cyst on that side and also uterine thickening. What exactly is all that? My period had ended about 3 days before the ct. I also have been bloated, constipated, tired, and having back pain. After the E.R. visits I had a consult with a surgeon about the hernias. He was horrible to me, and said I didn't have hernias and I should go to the gynocologist. At this point I am so disgusted, I don't know what to do. I feel horrible and somedays the pain is crippling. ANy advice?? can anyone relate??

I have recently had a cyst removed from my left ovary. It sounds like you have not been getting any answers from the doctors you have been seeing, including the surgeon. I would most definitely seek a 2nd opinion. As well, please go see a gyno in reference to not only the cyst but also the thickening in your ueterus. That could either be endometriosis or something else. It is important to get that checked out. As for the hernias have you tried another surgeon? Maybe your GP can refer you to someone that they personally know? That is what mine did when I had gallstones and she happened to be the best doctor I have ever been to.
First and foremost your health is what matters most. You need to go get the cyst checked and the thickening checked by a gyno. He or she can tell you a lot about what is going on and if you should be concerned. They can also run other tests to see what type of cyst or even if you should be worried about the thickening.
I hope this helps.

Thanks so much for the advice. I am frustrated because my surgeon who did my gall bladder removal wouldn't do my hernias because of my lack of insurance. I really think that is the root of the problem with the Dr's I have seen. They told me unless my hernia strangulates, that they won't operate on my. I am pretty disappointed that I have to have a life threatening condition for them to help me. I DO DO DO need to go to the gyno, I guess I might have more time once the kids start school next week. Thanks, Joan

I hate how doctors, especially when you have no insurance, will wait until the last minute before doing anything. I sure wish you the best of luck and please keep us updated on how things are going. If you have any questions or anything, please do not hesitate to ask.
