Amanda, You could ask your Dr.
I have herd that the sleepyness (is that a word?) could be just part of adjusting to the new meds. It may pass

I know Im new here but I may be able to help you. I have done a TREMENDOUS amount of research into the link between depression and exercise. This comes from personal experience. Although Im not saying exercise is a cure all when it comes to depression it works as well as and even superior to medications which have many side effects. Please do some research. You may find that becoming very active may just help you tremendously!!!

i used to take many meds that made me tired, infact i used to spend nearly all day sleeping. it may be that you havent found the right one yet, but dont give up. It can be a symptom of your body adjusting or you may need to try something else. its really important to stick with it, you've already noticed improvements and thats good.
i agree with the last poster exercise has a very positive effect on depression and also helps to fight the tiredness that some of the meds produce, if you can push yourself to do it. its probably the last thing you feel like doing but it helps.

Yes, they say that it takes a few weeks perhaps a good few months for your body to adjust to a new med. If it is making you feel better other than the sleep I would hang in there and allow your body to get a little more use to it. Talk to your doctor....adjusting the time you take the med may also help out quite a bit. I see that you already did that....usually Abilify is given at night because of it causing sleepiness but everybody is different and it may work out better taking it in the morning instead. But do not stop it without discussing it will your doctor....some of these meds need to be stopped slowly to prevent seizures or other bad things from happening.
Hang in there....it is good that the med is helping with your moods and starting high school is a big stress thrown into the equation. I have a daughter who is frustrated with the meds as well. We just learned today that she may have to yet try another one since her lymph nodes are enlarged while on Lamictal. I may get her on here to talk to you since you seem to be going through similar things.;) She is being discharged hopefullly tomorrow for the hospital and could use some support as I see you could use as well.
Keep looking towards wanting to get better. If your moods are improving then perhaps you should give the Abilify a little more time to work.

You don't have energy to fight anyone, you are on a major tranquilizer, CNS depressant. It can cause depression. I would not stop it unless you taper it down slowly, it's nothing to fool with.
