I had my annual pap three weeks ago tomorrow. My doctor calls if there is anything wrong or abnormal. I have never had an abnormal pap. I have not heard from my doctor so am I safe to assume that my pap was normal? The only reason I ask is because I had gone to the health department earlier that day and the doctor there asked me if I had ever had an abnormal pap and when I told him no he said "then what I am looking at is normal." That statement freaked me out so I went ahead to my doctor and paid him the whole bill. I am without insurance right now. My doctor told me he didn't see anything worrisome. I guess I am just freaking out because of what the one doctor said even though when I asked him is something was wrong he told me no. Am I just being silly?

Forgive me, but I'm a little confused... did you have two exams done? I will never ever assume no news is good news. I always request copies of my reports. You have the right to get a copy of your pap report. You may have to sign a release form, but you can get it. That way you will know for sure what your pap came back as.
I don't think you are being silly at all. You have questions and what the one doctor said certainly did not give you any kind of confidence one way or the other. Get a copy of your pap report, and be sure to keep up with your annual paps.

Well, I called my doctor and the receptionist said that if I haven't heard anything by now then that means everything is OK. I really trust this doctors office because he is a good solid Christian and he is head of trustees at the hospital. So I guess all is well!

Well, I decided I should get the news from my doctor or his nurse so I called my doctor this morning and the nurse returned my call and told me my pap came back fine. So no more stressing. Thank you all who helped me with my questions!
