I am seeing my doctor on Thursday and expect that he may want to check my cholesterol. What is required before this screening? Fasting for eight hours?

If your dr. decides he/she wants to check it, they will give U a form to take to a lab. Most drs. want a 10-12 hr. fast, other's think 8 is enough, depends on the dr. Just make sure U don't eat or drink anything except water for the fasting time, as even though they say U can have black coffee, sometimes it may affect the readings. I usually go first thing in the a.m., then head to my favorite diner for coffee and breakfast......;)

Good luck....

My appt. is at 8:30 so I am in good shape for fasting. Thanks for the info and well wishes JJ.
