Hi,
I have recently had a spinal neck fusion at c5-c6 because of a pinched nerve and surgery was on April 13 2006. I went to see a Nero surgeon after 5 to 6 months after feeling symptoms of weakness and frequent tingling … when I worked out at the gym, my right hand was lifting less and less. I thought I just pulled a muscle so that's why I waited so long. After surgery the tingling went away and my right arm seemed to get stronger. I was now lifting about 12 lbs as apposed to 5 before surgery. Just 3 weeks ago (aug. 7) I started getting back neck pain (like when I first got the surgery) again and also some tingling (not as much as before the surgery), but now I struggle to lift a glass or lift my arm over my head. The muscle atrophy has really set in now and my bicep is very small now. Is there something I could do at this point? Should I look for a good doctor for a second opinion?
I could truly use some good advice?

Have you been working with a physical therapist or just on your own? There are specific things that you should and should not be doing right after surgery. Most people have weight limitations for at least the first few weeks, too.

Hi,
I'm not working with a PT yet, ButI'm starting next week. I have only been able to lift 8 to 10 lbs and i did wait for about a month. It's just getting worse for the last couple of weeks.

Hi there fredj
if l were you l would get back to the neuro quick smart :blob_fire . Could have something to do with your fusion, maybe something in there has moved, like the hardware etc.Don't wait around and wonder:eek: you could do alot more damage, it could be as easy as taking an xray to see how the fusion is going, or to see if it has failed.
