Has anyone had a burning sore tongue with sores on the tip of it and on the sides?? I have read that stress can cause this along with anxiety but have not read it on this board as being anyones symptom that i can recall. I have issues now with acid reflux and thought maybe that might be causing it, my taste buds are really big also.

I would'nt doubt that stress probably could cause that.I have heard of people breaking out in rashses and things froms stress and anxiety.Another thought could it be cold sores?

I went to the ER lastnite cause it was hurting SO bad, they said it is canker sores caused from stress.

Yes, I've had this before from stress. It does really hurt! I was told to rinse out my mouth with very warm salt water, as warm as I could stand it. The day after I did this, I felt much better.

The burning and blistered tongue are not due to any stress issues for me. This is a symptom I have experienced having food, & latex allergies. My tongue felt scalded and blistered from eating baked fish cooked with lemon slices. It healed after a week or so. I swirled my tongue with liquid benedryl for relief.

I have done a lot of detective work to discover what might be causing my reactions. This also happens when I eat any foods ie: mint, vinegar, pickles, or citrus.

You might keep a log of what you eat. That is what helped me. Usually the symptoms appear within a few minutes or an hour or so if it is an offending food.

It could be hidden in the prepared food as a flavoring. I have found it takes time, but it is worth it to know what the cause is in order to avoid it.

I no longer trust MD's that are quick to diagnose stress... or peri menopause as the diagnosis.

Symptoms of an allergic reaction can include a feeling of a lump in your throat, post nasal drip, reflux. I have severe reactions to many foods, and latex. Chemical sensitivities can also cause symptoms as if you are having an allergic reaction. The bodies response seems to be the same for all of these.

I get the feeling that I can't swallow, and the mucous feels like glue in the back of my throat. I have been diagnosed with Idiopathic anaphylaxis.. they don't always know what the trigger is. Also many food allergies stemming from my latex allergy. And the latex allergy has led to my chemical sensitivities as well.

I take several antihistamines monitored by my allergist. These help a great deal. I also use Primatene Mist for some of the oral choking feelings I can't seem to get rid of with regular antihistamines. I've had many trips to the ER after using EpiPen.

Noticing when this symptom happens, helps track down any triggers that may be allergens. For instance when our honeysuckle is in bloom I cannot go into the yard, and I cannot have any windows open. This is also true when any neighbors have a fire in their fireplace.

It took a long time for me to find the specific triggers because it was caused by more than one. And anytime we feel as though we are choking or fighting for air we get stressed, and fell panicky - it doesn't mean we are imagining it or causing it. It just means our bodies are responding naturally to our survival instincts of fight or flight. Because this anxiety is caused by a life threatening medical condition my allergist term for diagnosis is a "Secondary panic disorder".
