Hi there, Please try yoga and meditation for your anxiety...it will help you to change your life!

I suffered with anxiety as a teenager (panic attacks in the bathroom at work, etc) and started doing yoga when I was 19 (I'm now 38). It was wonderful and over time, I learned that by focusing on the breath, which ellicits the "relaxation response," I could overcome my anxiety.

There are different types of yoga classes available...for relaxation chose "Hatha" yoga. It's a gentle form of yoga with an emphasis on focusing on the breathe and using visulation (imaging yourself lying on a beach, etc.)

If you're not able to go to an actual class, consider buying a tape (available at any department store, such as KMart, Target, etc.) You can also search online for different types of tapes and they may even have them available at the library.

Please, if you really want to change your life naturally, give yoga a try!

Best wishes to all!

Elaine

Elaine,

Thanks for mentioning Yoga. A few years ago, when I had suffered four miscarriages, and then anxiety began, I had so many physical symptoms that made me feel like a sick person. Headaches, sinus problems, dizziness, etc. I used to work out, but it was too much with the headaches and full head feeling. I started Yoga, and I used to tell everyone, that except from the neck up, I was healthier than I ever was...ever! I've had anxiety for four years now, and stopped Yoga for various reasons. But your post makes me want to go back, because I remember how amazing I felt when I did it regularly, even after a couple of days of starting.

Thanks again,

Lisa

I have read it really helps. I also have ADHD and I don't know if I could just sit there. It looks boring. Is there a Yoga that has a little more action?

Meditation (practicing "just being" with the breath or with whatever I'm doing at the moment) has been essential for my recovery from anxiety/panic. I can't imagine what things would be like without it.
