View Full Version : Timing BD -- Need Advice

Hi Ladies!

Just wanted to get your advice on timing BD in a natural cycle with help of OPK. As some of you know, my IVF cycle was cancelled due to poor response to the drugs. It was cancelled last Tues (not this past one, but last week) -- one of my follicles was 10 mm at the time. Anyhow, we decided to just try naturally this month, and I only thought today to use an OPK to try and figure out when I'm ovulating. (I used to chart and knew exactly when I would O, but because I was starting an IVF cycle I obviously didn't do that this month.) The directions on the test indicated that there were three kinds of results -- 1) one line only -- nowhere near ovulation, 2) one dark line and one lighter line -- 24 to 36 hours from ovulation, and 3) two dark lines -- ovulation has occurred. So this morning I took the test -- which indicated that I'd be ovulating in the next 24 to 36 hours (reference line was dark and test line was lighter). Advice on best time to BD?

Hi Cubed  ,
If the test is saying you will O in the next 24 to 36 hours, I would say go home and BD tonight (and have fun!). They say the most fertile days are the days leading up to the O, so that would be now :D :D . Good luck!!!

PS...Sorry to hear your IVF was cancelled this cycle. I can only imagine how disappointing that must be.

That's what I thought -- but I really needed the confirmation! I know that when charting, once you've hit your peak temp (i.e., once you see that O has occurred) that's not really the optimal time to BD -- it's really the days before. So what you're saying makes total sense about how to use the OPK. THANKS!

Cubed--

I definitely agree, BD tonight!! Maybe even tomorrow too if you feel up to it! Good luck. :)
