lifesong872 08-31-2006, 11:21 AM Anyone had experince with Wellbutrin? Share your story here. ronniesteers 08-31-2006, 02:53 PM There are two kinds - Wellbutrin and Wellbutrin XL (Extended Release). I was taking the XL and then started taking regular Wellbutrin (the generic) because it was $25.00 less copay. I think XL works better. I think it helped lift my depression, especially in the beginning. I had no sexual side effects. (I can't take the SSRI's for this reason). Maybe had a little boost of energy. I've been taking it for over a year and a half so I don't remember any side effects of when I first took it. But I do think it works. Although lately for me I've needed something extra. Just went through a bad depression (yeah, they come even with the medication). Anyway, hope this helps you. loubeagle 08-31-2006, 10:05 PM I started Wellbutrin in June of this year. I was/am suffering from Anxiety and was told this drug was having good success with anxiety as well as depression. I'll be honest - I had a VERY rough time getting on this medication. After one week I was thisclose to stopping it all together. It made my anxiety worse, I had a strange jumpy feeling in my head and just felt really bad. I called my doctor and she advised me to try to persist as what I was going through is a normal side-effect for some people. It took me about a month to really begin to "like" this drug. For me, it seems to be working well to keep my anxiety in check. I still feel the odd "attack" coming on but it is very mild for me. Good luck in the search for a good drug! lifesong872 09-01-2006, 04:31 PM Am glad its helping both of you. I just started taking Wellbutrin xl for my anxiety and depression a couple of days ago. When did you start feeling better? Does it make any of you tired? lifesong872 09-01-2006, 04:36 PM Oh and why is wellbutrin so dang expensive??? I mean I have insurance that covers it but still $164.62 at walmart! :dizzy: I guess am just not use to buying this kind of medication. ronniesteers 09-08-2006, 11:03 AM It depends on what kind of insurance you have. Ask your doctor if they can write a prescription for the generic (bupropion). I can't believe that is how much they are charging you! |
