Does anyone suffer from jaw clenching or teeth grinding? I suffer from GAD and lately I have been noticing that my face, jaw, and teeth are sore almost all of the time. I've also been having slight headaches lately, which is not common for me. Every now and then I notice that I am biting down for no reason during the day, and I suspect that I might be doing this in my sleep too... Any thoughts?

I clench my jaw. I do not even know I am doing it, I have caught myself a couple of times. I have started to get regular massages to try and relax me.

Yes! I have GAD and I do the same thing. I suffer from TMJ too and that makes my jaw so sore and nothing really relieves it. I've been grinding my teeth at night since I was a kid. I was fitted for a mouth guard to wear at night, but I was clenching down on it so hard that I would wake up with shooting pains in my bottom teeth. I decided not to wear it anymore.

Me too I started doing this years after being diagnosed, seems symptoms change alot.Anyway, when it happen's to me it is like I cannot control or make it stop and my jaws ache and are sore all the time. This has'nt happened to me in qwite a while now because it seem's I now have alot better hold on the whole anxiety deal.I think the jaw clentching has to do with tension due to the anxiety.I noticed back then if I took a benzo then the clentching would finally stop.

I apparently clench and grind my teeth while I'm sleeping. I don't have much enamel left on my teeth. I have been doing this for a long time now, even before the real anxiety hit me.

I clench my jaws and sometimes grind my teeth, but mostly I chew on the inside of my lip and that makes it bleed alot of times. I constantly do it all day, I guess to relieve my anxiety and nervousness.

I thought it might be useful to say that, until my daughter moved away, I woke up each morning w/a sore jaw. It worried me so much because I cannot envision HOW HARD a person must grind and for HOW LONG in order to have a sore jaw??
Anyway, it stopped once she broke off most contact. Sad but true.....

I would get it checked out by your dentist. They can take a special xray which shows your jaw bones. I too suffer from anxiety and for the past few years I have been wearing a mouth guard at night. When the dentist first noticed it they took a special xray and you can see the jaw socket which is supposed to look like a cup was worn down almost flat. If I don't wear the mouth guard, especially for a few days I get bad pains by my ears. The clenching is actually breaking some of the enamel off my top teeth at the gum line. I had to have all four of my back molars crowned because I wore down the teeth so much.
