There are several reasons for recurrent UTI"S. If you are not drinking enough water ( 6-8 glasses) daily, the water helps keep things moving and flushes out bacteria. If you are not going to the bathroom when you feel the urge can also contribute to bladder infections. You need to urinate before and after having sex as this lessens the ability of bacteria to colonize. Lastly, make sure you always wipe from front to back after bowel movements so you are not introducing bacteria into the urethra.
As far as the colonoscopy goes it's probably okay to have it, just let the doctor know you have a UTI.

I had a couple of infections right in a row. Even though I drank A LOT of water and followed everything, I still got the infections. It got so bad where I felt like passing out and ending up going into the hospital where they ran tests on me, they found two stones in one kidney. You may have kidney stone(s) where they may be disrupting that wall of your kidney. Good luck, I hope you feel better soon! Keep us posted.

One more helpful hint to help prevent urinary tract infections is to take a good shower before you take a bath. I'm a "bath person" so that was a good one for me. That gets rid of all of the bacteria so that you don't lay in it in the bathtub. Also, don't add anything to your bath water.
