has anyone had the unnerving side effect of tinnitus after taking wellbutrin?

I never thought of that but I might. I take 300 mgs. per day of wellbutrin sr and for the last few months I have had some ringing. I didn't think it could have been a side effect of the wellbutrin but there is always that possiblity. I seem to have it more around electronic and things or when I'm lying in bed and everything is quiet. Strange, I just mentioned this to my wife and now I get the impression she thinks I'm hearing things that aren't there.

I took Wellbutrin for the first time back in 1997. That's when my tinnitus started. I was off the drug for 6 years, but the ringing continued. I got back on Wellbutrin just a month ago, and the ringing seems worse! I do notice it more when it's quiet. It's very bothersome. What upsets me most is that once the tinnitus started, it stayed with me for years even though I stopped the Wellbutrin.
Tell your wife you're not hearing things! I mean, you ARE, but there's a reason for it. Lots of people suffer from it. Hopefully someday there will be a cure. Take good care and thanks for posting!
