michaeljenkins3 09-03-2006, 06:11 AM Hi all,
My Doctor has just prescribed me Zoloft and after doing a search thru this message board i am becoming quite worried about taking this now due to the side effects. Some people saying they suffer from horrific nightmares, always felling tired to going crazy with anger.
Could some body please help.
Michael
I am not on any medication so I cannot give you an opinion on them but I can tell you if side effects of a medicine don't appeal to you you should see if you can get it switched. There is no reason one should have to worry about the medicine they are taking because of the side effects.
smurfy33 09-03-2006, 09:07 AM I understand your fear. I had a panic attack on Paxil and now I'm so scared to take anything. My dad has been on Zoloft for a few years and he has never had a problem with it.
Good luck!
Amy D.J. 09-03-2006, 02:00 PM I think it depends on your body, I take 10 milligrams of zoloft I am trying to ween off, the most I could take was 25 because anything over made me feel crazy and disoriented but I know people who have no problems at all, I do not like it personally but for others it works great, try not to be scared that sometimes brings symptoms on itself, I know it happened to me. Good luck if you try it, if you do not like it you could always try something else. Amy J.:)
Jillian888 09-03-2006, 11:44 PM Hi Michael, I am on Zoloft and i am not experiencing any bad side affects if anything I think it is the best depression medication I have been on... Good luck :)
michaeljenkins3 09-04-2006, 04:43 AM Hi there,
Thank you everyone who has helped.
Jillian i was reading thru your post about your problems regarding cardio fears, this is the reason why i have started with Zoloft. Has this medication helped with this problem.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Michael
anothersideofme 09-04-2006, 11:36 AM I have taken 100 mg of zoloft daily for several years. I did not have any negative side effect except for dry mouth each time I increased dosage and a muting of feelings in general. I think it was a real life saver for me at that point. I agree with Amy that worrying about side effects can cause anxiety. That happens to me all the time. Then, I start to wonder if the medication is what made me feel wierd. More often than not, it's the anxiety I brought on myself. I'm not sure if this is always the case, but whatever side effects I did have on zoloft always went away after a week or so and my body adjusted. I wish you the best!
Jillian888 09-05-2006, 03:58 AM Hi Michael,
It is helping me a lot i still have my bad days but over it is very good for me. You need to give it at least 6 weeks to feel the true affect. I am finding that everyday slowly that i can go about my daily routine.
I wish you all the luck with it Michael and hope you keep in contact.
michaeljenkins3 09-05-2006, 05:10 AM Thank you for that info. I have decided to start with Zoloth tonight. Iam still worried about the side effects, but i think it is worth a shot.
Talk to you later.
Michael

Kellir 09-06-2006, 03:58 AM Hi Michael, my doctor put me on zoloft before but since Im also bipolar it put me in a mania, so I cannot take it. The only side affect except making me manic was that I lost alot of weight because it made me feel not hungry but that wore off after a few months.
Jillian888 10-01-2006, 07:19 AM Hi Michael, Just wonder how you are going on zoloft?:)
michaeljenkins3 10-01-2006, 07:32 AM Hi there,
I had to stop taking the Zoloft, i was having terrible head aches and insomnia. With my job i kinda need my sleep. But my GP has just put me on a new one thats called Efexer- xr.

Michael
Diane720 10-01-2006, 10:03 AM Hi Michael....I am also on zoloft (150mg daily)....and the only side affects I've had...is when I first started taking it....it took a few weeks of headaches for me...but that was it. I no longer have full blown panic attacks.

1sunny1 10-01-2006, 01:45 PM I second that motion, Zoloft has been really good for me, have taken it a few years back and am now taking it again 100MG, I have never had a problem with it. Try it, everybody is different and these things can react differently for everyone. The first week it made me feel like my heart was beating a bit faster, but that all went away after the first week, also, I take it at bedtime.
The first time I took it, I took it in the morning and I really have never felt like it made me sleepy.
Jillian888 10-02-2006, 11:47 PM Hi Michael, How are you?. I am sorry to hear Zoloft did not work for you. Are you trying anything else?.
I have been on Luvox, Arapax and Cipramil and all of those made me sick Zoloft is the only one that has made a difference... Any how I am not having a good day today. But i am soldering on.
Take care and hope to hear from you soon... Jill
