Hi to all of you out there.

I'm 17 years old and I went to urgent care sunday night where they told me I gad herpes. This is probably the nost painful thing I have ever experiance and I've been there surgeries, falls, sickness, and severe street drug withdrawl and this tops them all.

Everytime I need to pee I hold it because it hurts so bad I need to scream andthen I feel like I'm about to faint. I'm guessing the urine is burning the sores.. Does anyone have any advice for this? I can't hold my urine for very long because I'm prone to bladder and kidney infections.

Also I have some sores on my tongue. How do I help with the pain? The doctor gave me vicodin. For the pain of both areas but it doesn't do much and I want to steer clear or painkillers.

Please please help
I'm so scared and in so much pain

Hang in there. The first episode is usually the worst. Try taking a glass of warm water in with you and pouring over you while urinating. It will help to dilute the acid and burning. I also used a small tub of warm water to sit in (in a bath tub or shower stall) and peed into that. Also urinating while taking a shower helps. I know this may sound gross, but when you are is that much pain anything is better than nothing. I thought it was the end of my life as I knew it, but life does go on. The thing about this virus is that over time the symtoms lessen, the pain is less, and breakouts happen less often. If you can take it, Valtrex helps to prevent breakouts and shorten them when you do get them. I don't like drugs, so I only used it when absolutely necessary. If there is a support group in your area, I would highly recommend one. This virus can be really hard on ones self esteem, and a support group, even an online group, can be helpful. :)

Canthan-

In addition to what perfectly said, you can get what's called a urinary analgesic called pyridium. This is basically a pain killer for your bladder/urethra and makes it WAY easier to urinate. It will turn you urine bright orange, but it works well because I've used it before.

Hang in there, the first is the worst....

Urinate while sitting in the tub with water over your genitals or stand directly over the tiolet with one foot on either side of the tiolet so you urinate straight down and it doesn't touch the sores. If you sit in the tub water, after cleaning be sure to pat dry or use a hair dryer to dry well as sores take longer to heal if you are wet, damp. The first outbreak is by far the most painful. I cried for days and could hardly walk due to the pain. Now almost four years later I don't get sores, only tingling - no pain.
