Hi, I was wondering if anyone with bipolar disorder and ADHD has taken Strattera without a mood stabilizer.

They think now, since in the past 4 years, nothing has calmed his HYPERACTIVITY down, that he might be Bipolar, also! I hope he is not! But, I see the things he does and acts in school, well, what do I have to loose with him starting a Mood Stablizer! Now, doesn't mean the Strattera will not work on you. My Psych has that ready, next on my list, after the Neurontin starts bothering me! Wish I hope it doesn't stop! I hate trying new meds, and I have heard that Stratter is very similiar to Wellubutrin. Both meds do take over 6-8 weeks for the full benefits, plus some other similiarities, but I forget right now, since should be sleeping, lol! Well, let us know what is up! Let me know how you like Stratter! But, have something for those days in teh begining, for a back up! Ask your doc! This is prior to being diagnosed with Bipolar II to I was not on a mood stabilizer. Unfortunately, it did not do a darn thing for me other than knock me out. My doc did say that Strattera wasn't working out quite the way that they had been hoping. So now I've been on Strattera for less than a week and I think I should stop taking it because I seriously want to KILL people. Not like the normal angry want to kill people but not really gonna do it type. It's like the I wanna kill for fun and because I can and I'm gonna get away with it type. Ya that makes no sense. I am bipolar and have add...i need to see if i can get myself straight...now that my bipolar symptoms are sorta ok...my add ones are so apparent...talk all the time, cant shut up. Cant remember anything...and cant clean the house if my life depended on it...hello i get so distracted! BBBOOOOKKKK! My son is 6 years old and he busted my husbands lip (6'4 235pds) and was pulling my hair and kicking me and we barely got him under control. I would not suggest Stratera for anyone!!!! He has Bi-Polar and ADD/ADHD so I am very careful as to what he gets. PollyPrissyPants 08-27-2003, 04:52 PM hi...i have BiPolarII and was diagnosed ADD last year...i have been taking focalin (ritalin type) for a year and have since been told that it was most likely a misdiagnosis...that many BP's show same symptoms as ADD due to the racing thoughts...now i am addicted to the focalin and am going to have to face detox to withdraw..i'm postponing this til my divorce and move are in the past however, because i need the jolt of energy the focalin gives me.... just some food for thought...
