I live in a large metropolitan area and no one around heard does tomogram x-rays. I called several oral surgeons and they never even heard of them.
Someone did mention a ceph x-ray which I never heard of.
So that is why probably a lot of use do not have access to these types of x-rays.

I went to an ortho in NYC for a tomogram - maybe you just have to find the right type of dr who is familiar with them enough to know where to send you?

luvtocamp,
I had tomograms done by a conservative TMJ specialist. He runs a large, private orofacial pain clinic in Phoenix, AZ. I don't think oral surgeons usually do tomograms at all...they stick to panoramic x-rays (to evaluate things like wisdom teeth position), and usually order MRIs of the TMJ. But a conservative TMJ specialist would be more likely to do tomograms. hope that helps...
