Hello my daughter was just recently diagnosed with mild CP.. hers is mixed with hemiplegia and high and low muscle tone. she is walking.. unsteadily and talking more.. she is receiving therapy already from an intervention program.. i was wondering what else i could do for her cause i want her to receive everything she needs but dont know where to start since there seem to be no support groups in my area.

The more PT she can get the better. OT and speech therapy are often necessary as well. It is so critical to get treatment while she is young.
In my opinion, it is better to have a variety of people see your child on an ongoing basis if you can. Everyone has a different perspective, and the more information you get the better. Our son has a PT that she sees twice a week and an OT he sees once a week, but he also has a different PT that he sees once every 2 weeks and a physiatrist he sees once every 3 months, so we are constantly getting different opinions. Keep pushing for more services, and pay privately if you have to (we found the best therapists are private).
I'm glad you found this website. Message boards like this are an excellent way to keep up with new developments and also to see what other people are going through and how they deal with it. These boards have been more useful to me than anyone in my immediate community. This message board is my support group.
Best of luck with your daughter. Please keep us updated as to how she is doing.
