Besides a thyroid condition, what can cause a dramatic weight loss??
I have lost probably 20 lbs since April. And more than that overall...that's just when I started noticing I was losing the weight and started to keep an eye on it.
I've lost so much weight the past couple months that it's *very* noticeable to my family and friends and they ask me what is wrong.
I weighed myself this afternoon and I was down to 104 lbs. I was 110 lbs 3 weeks ago...the last time I weighed myself. I'm 5'7" or 5'8"....so obviously 104lbs does not look good on me. :p
I've always been on the small side, but this is not normal at all.
The only other "symptoms" I've noticed that I get very dizzy easily (especially lately). TMI, but also get upset stomach usually in the morning and loose stools.
My eating habits have not changed at all. Actually some of my friends are surprised at how much I eat. I'm not under any kind of stress.
I have a doctor's appointment set, but it's not until November. I'm contemplating setting an appointment with my other doctor to see if they can get me in sooner cause this just does not seem right??
Any ideas?

Other physical reasons for unexplained weight loss include:
Malabsorption problems caused by gallbladder disease, parasite infection, small intestine disorders, high blood calcium, low blood potassium
or
Loss of nutrients caused by diabetes, long-lasting diarrhea, or kidney disease
or
An excess demand by the body for energy caused by hyperthyroidism or cancer, among other things
I wouldn't let this go until November, if I were you. You can see how serious many of these reasons are. The medical recommendation for unexplained weight loss of more than about 10 pounds is to consult a doctor. You're well past that.

Thanks for the responses...
I called my other doc and got in right away....I saw the doc today.
He ordered a bunch of bloodwork said the two major things he was testing me for is a thyroid condition and diabetes. My little sister is Type 1. So I'm kind of wondering if that is what is going on. Guess we'll see!! He said the bloodwork results should be in tomorrow.
He said if my bloodwork comes back normal, he guesses I have "bad luck with calories." LOL....very funny....however I'm beginning to wither away to nothing here.

I'm relieved you went in sooner. I hope whatever you have will be promptly identified and easily remedied. Best of luck...

Update -
The doc just called me and he said that all my bloodwork came back within normal ranges. So he said that ruled out cancer or any other problems that could be detected by bloodwork.
He wants to keep monitoring me though and I'm suppose to stop in near the end of the month for a weight check.
