Ok... So I know this is gross...
I am asthmatic, and tend to get congested easily. On several occasions now, I have coughed up the most terrible blob.
I am pretty sure it is coming from my nose, possibly my throat, but I doubt it.
Almost certain it's not my lungs...
It usually happens after a good sniff, which is why I think it is from my nose, but like I said, maybe it is my throat...

What comes out, and I am sorry to be so blunt, is blood (kinda stringy, clotty) mixed with what appears to be tissue or something. It is so thick, you could probably pull it apart with your fingers... Almost like dead skin or something.

I have no idea what could be causing this... If anyone knows, please tell me.
Thank's.

Infected mucus in the sinus cavities can turn into a thick yellow green mass, which drops down the back of your throat.

On occasion with my many impacted sinus infections I would incur enough irritation to generate mild nose bleeds. When this happens I get bloody green/yellow blobs. Does this soun d familiar? If so....

Do you have a low grade fever, 99 - 101 degrees?

Do you have a head ache that centers at the bridge of your nose and radiates outward along your eye ridges?

If this sounds familar I would bet money that you have a sinus infection. You will need to see your doctor and get antibiotics.

Good luck and get well.

Have you been to an ENT? If not you should probably arrange to go to one.

Sometimes if you have chronic sinusitus, your body gets used to the infected state and does not react... i.e. no fever. I can undersand about to many antibiotics for too long. Been there done that.

Have your doctors done a standard blood test to tell if you have elevated cell counts pointing to either a bacterial or viral infection?

If not, get one done... if the test comes back negative and you are still concerned you might want them to culture your goo. This will allow them to determine what it is and identifiy it... if it is a more rare fungal infection.
If it is a fungal infection, you will need to take antifungal agents instead. But fungal sinus infection are not uncommon and antibiotics will not touch them.

That is all the advice I can give you now.

Good luck in your determination process.
