I have had swollen lymphnodes for the past year or so. I noticed a large mass behind my ear about six months that was more in the posterior neck area. It was very hard and does not move and does not hurt unless messed with. All of the lymph nodes are painless! I went to the doctor because I kept gettting more swollen lymph nodes along the cervical chain of the posterior and anterior neck. The Dr. immediately mentioned possible lyphoma and said need to have a Ct-scan. The results of the scan are as described! Several lymphnodes along the cervical chain are enlarged on both left and right, the biggest lymphnode being 15.0 mm. There is a 2cm mucous retention cyst of the right maxillary sinus and mucous thickening of the left maxillary wall. The scan says numerous lymph glan enlargement. The results state from the Dr. that read the scan said he fills lymph node enlargement is due to inflammatory etiology. My question is, is it possible for a cyst in the sinus cavity and thickening of the nasal wall to cause such enlargement of the lymphnodes in the neck for this long of time? Any info would be greatly appreciated. My Dr. thinks this is my problem and thinks that a 30 day antibiotic along with nasal irrigation will fix the lymphnode problem even though they have been swollen and painless for over a year. What do you think? If anyone has experienced this problem please respond for I am scarred to death it is lymphoma.
Thank you!

gospel25514,

DId your Doctor have a plan for the cyst? I have heard of cysts causing structural alteration in your sinuses before, but the only long term lymph node aggrevation triggers I have experience with are long term sinus infections and mono. My lymph nodes have been swollen with persistant sinus infections for periods up to 3 months with out relief... and if I got another infection shortly after they would flair up again. When my fiance/husband gave me mono I had about a six month period of aggrevated... swollen lymph nodes in my neck, under my arms, behind my ears, on the back of my neck, and allon my upper spine.

As to the cyst, my sister-in-law had one and it was removed as soon as it was discovered. She was feeling so good that she doubled her productivity instantly and actually felt relief from chronic sinus headaches as well.

Best wishes on solving your problem.

Sincerely,
MG
