I have been taking it for almost two weeks now and the headaches have been horrible. I can't concentrate with it and I'm forgetting things. Like leaving my debit card in the machine and forgetting things on the stove. I'm currently taking 50mg twice a day. Has anyone here had to taper off of this med??

Hi,

When I first started on Lyrica, I insisted that I would never be able to tolerate it. I just couldn't stand how I felt. Part of my job is making huge bank deposits and I had to double and triple check everything.

Since you've only been taking it for 2 weeks and you aren't taking it for seizures, there is little risk in quitting but I hope you will reconsider. You may need to start at 25mg or only take the 50mg at night. Your doctor can help you adjust your dosage.

I wanted to quit many times but I stuck with it. I didn't notice a huge difference in symptoms until I reached 300mg twice a day but I have severe neuropathy in my feet and legs. It took almost 6 months to reach that dosage but it got easier and easier with each increase.

You're just starting out on it and while some don't have any trouble with it, many do. It takes time and dedication but it can make a big difference.

Susan did you have headaches in the beginning? I've been doing the 50mg at night for the last two days now and my headache has been almost unbearable. But I was having the headache before I started tapering.

Yes, I had headaches at the beginning. They were different from a tension or sinus headache. They stopped after about a month.

I spoke with the doc today and they told me the best way to wean off of it. Was you able to find anything that relieved the headache I'm getting desperate?
