I have been diagnosed with anemia this summer from heavy menstral bleeding. My hemoglobin was an 8.3. I have been taking slow Fe and my last test a month later was 9.9. I have an MCH of 23. My question is that the most annoying symptom I have been having is puffy sore eyelids and swelling below my eyes. If I rub them at all they puff. I have never had this before in my life, and Ihave had allergies before. My family doctor says it is probably allergies, but I am wondering if the capillaries in my eyes are so sensitive that they swell with just a little bit of rubbing due to the anemia. Has anyone experienced anything like this? I am tired of people asking what is wrong with my eyes. I am taking claritin and allergy eye drops. The other symptoms I have had are fatigue and terrible headaches.

I have had puffy, dark eyes for a long time now. I was just recently diagnosed with iron defiency anemia with a ferratin level of 2. I didn't realize that the puffiness could be related to this. Interesting. I also have the fatigue and headaches.
