I have a spinal cord injury. I am more than 2 years post op. The med percocet is now gotten out of control. Can't control the use of it and cant get relief that used to get. Cant find a facility to help with detox while still understanding a pain problem exists witout medication. Help. Suffering in New York City.
short acting pain killers like that are useless for long term pain as you have found out.I used to take 25 percs every 2 hours and even then I had a hard time getting anything off them. You really should be on a sustained release opiate like ms contin....Dave:)

For serious, chronic pain like yours, you need a longer acting med. Oxycontin is one suggestion. The Duragesic patch is another. I used the patch to control my pain for awhile and it actually worked very well. It's a b*tch to get off of, but it keeps the med at an even level in your body and you don't need to pop pills except for breakthrough pain. Ask your doc about it. :)
