Never heard of such "height increase surgery"! That's crazy.

It is very popular in Japan among women I saw a report and read an article on it once. They saw the bone close to the knee and attatch screws (about eight) around the leg and you have to stay in bed while your leg generates new bone once that happens they tighten the screw so that their is a gap between your bones and let that be filled in by new bone. They repeat the process until they achieve the height desired. However, they can only increase you height by about an inch or two ( i don't remember the exact number but I know that it was not much) The screws are only removed at the end of the process so chances of infection are extremely high and the new legs are generally weaker than the original. Try and do an internet search. I read about it in either Marie Claire or Glamour about three years ago.
Good luck

I saw an article on expanding the gap bewtween the vertibre in the spine to add two or three inches in height. It involved all kinds of stretching of the back. I believe it was in a body building magazine.

Just a thought, you are short (150cm is about 4 feet, 3 inches I think) but please keep several things in mind:
1) short but healthy is better than short and crippled if the bone lengthening goes bad. The operation the responder above described, I saw that on television and it isn't fun.
2) as woman you can wear heals, gives a little height.
3) anything you consider please research, research, research. Get more than one opinion. You are young so make sure you research the LONG TERM effects this will have on you. Will it make you more likely to have osteoporis or other bone problems as a Senior?
4) also, remember a big part of our appearance isn't our absolute height, weight, waist or chest size, it is how in proporation our various body parts are to each other. We have all seen the skinny man with the big belly or the thin woman with huge breasts. It is a proportion thing. Would you look out of proportion with longer thigh bones but the same torso and shin bone length?
Just some thoughts.

I also saw the show on Discovery Channel, I believe, about people in Japan who are undergoing bone lengthening to increase their height. It is such an imprecise science since so much that occurs is related to the invividual cell division, and it's almost impossible to ensure that each leg will be identical in length. When you fracture a bone, the bone can regenerate to fill in the cracks, or gaps that the fracture caused, however, with bone lengthening, the idea is to extend the length of cells. It's a crazy idea. I wouldn't mind being a few inches taller (I'm a guy), but until there is a more precise way of becoming taller, I will wait.

150 cm is about 59 inches, not that short! Especially with all the pain and recovery that would be required. You have your good excuse to go shopping for stilletos...Best of luck
